When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

So yeah. Here's a character that most of you have never seen before but he was created quite awhile ago. Here's the original version: [link]
He's got a major update to his design and now he's back! This is Theod (wow, he has a name now!) and he is an Arnok, a species of raptor-like aliens. He was developed at the summer Character Development class I took up at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. The shaded drawing is done on a large piece of illustration board which I will eventually color with acrylic paint. Maybe. There is a TON of work that went into creating this character and his species. There is a reason that he has a purple stripe, there is a reason the differences between males and females are the way they are, there is a reason they have that kind of body design, etc. It's more than meets the eye. One part of this class was to not only design and create characters and their personality and background but to also make a sculpture. Whoo! A sculpture which can be seen here: [link] This was also entered into the Scholastic Art Awards scholarship competition too. I hope it does well! Theod/Arnoks (c) |
